Many years ago in a small Indian village, a farmer had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to a village moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the farmer’s beautiful daughter. So he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgot the farmer’s debt if he could marry his daughter. Both the farmer and his daughter were horrified by the proposal. So the cunning money-lender suggested that they let providence decide the matter.
He told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an empty money bag. Then the girl would have to pick one pebble from the bag. If she picked the black pebble, she would become his wife and her father’s debt would be forgiven. If she picked the white pebble she need

not marry him and her father’s debt would still be forgiven. But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail.

They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the farmer’s field.
As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles and put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick a pebble from the bag. Now, imagine you were standing in the field. What would you have done if you were the girl? If you had to advise her, what

would you have told her? Careful analysis would produce three
possibilities:

1. The girl should refuse to take a pebble.
2. The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and
expose the money-lender as a cheat.
3. The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order to
save her father from his debt and imprisonment.

Take a moment to ponder over the story. The above story is used with the hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral and logical thinking. The girl’s dilemma cannot be solved with traditional logical thinking. Think of the consequences if she chooses the above logical answers.

The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble.
Without looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path where it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.

“Oh, how clumsy of me,” she said. “But never mind, if you look into the bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked.”

Since the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had picked the white one. And since the money-lender dared not admit his dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into an extremely advantageous one.

Shortly later, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles. 5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US. He started to plan his family’s future, and decided to have a life insurance. He called an insurance broker, and chooses a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded, the broker asked him his email.

The man replied, “I don’t have an email “. The broker answered
curiously, “you don’t have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an email?” The man thought for a while and replied, ” Yes, I’d be an office boy at Microsoft!”

One evening a Swamiji of Sri Ramakrishna Mutt was addressing the participants on the concept of work culture. One of the participants asked the following question to the Swamiji:

“I am a senior manager of Materials Department and I joined an organization 25 years ago as an Engineer Trainee and over the last 25 years I have gone through every experience in the organization and I am now the senior manager looking after the material function independently.

During the initial part of my career, the job was very challenging and interesting. Every day was exciting and I looked forward to each day with lot of interest. However, all those exciting days are gone since I do not find my joy any more interesting because there is nothing new in my job. As I have seen and handled every conceivable situation there is no more challenges in my work. I am now feeling bored because I am doing a routine job.

However, Swamiji, I am living in the same house for over forty years, I am the son for the same parents for over forty five years, I am the father for the same children for the past ten years and the husband for the same lady for the past twenty years.

In these personal roles I do not feel bored and the passage of time has not taken away the zeal from me. Please tell me why I am bored of the routine in the office and not in the house?”

This was a very interesting question and we were all very anxious and curious to know what the Swamiji had to say !!

The response from him was very interesting and convincing. He asked the executive the question:

“Please tell me for whom does your Mother cook ?”

The executive replied that obviously the mother cooks for others.

Then the Swamiji said that the mother “Serves” others and because of this service mindedness, she is not feeling tired or bored. But in an office, we “Work” and not “Serve”. Anything we consider, as service will not make us feel bored. That is difference between Serving and Working.

He asked the executive to consider his work as service and not merely a work !! This was a very interesting analysis !! Whenever you put a larger context around your work and see a broader meaning for your work, you will take interest in your work. An awareness of larger purpose of your job and an appreciation of its importance will make a very big difference in your
internal energy. You should believe that you are here for a purpose and should believe in the spiritual context of your role. Attitude Matters !!!

If you think you are working for the organization you will get frustrated.

If you feel you are doing a service and gettting some service charges you
will feel happy.

It is just a paradigm shift that is required.

In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo see. I would not quit.” GOD said.

“Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant…But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.” GOD said to me.

“Did you know, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots?”

“I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you.”

“Don’t compare yourself to others.” GOD said. “The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make
the forest beautiful.”

“Your time will come”, GOD said to me. “You will rise high”

“How high should I rise?” I asked.

“How high will the bamboo rise?” GOD asked in return.

“As high as it can?” I questioned

“Yes.” GOD said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.”

I left the forest and bring back this story. I hope these words can help you see that GOD will never give up on you. GOD will never give up on you

There were about 70 scientists working on avery hectic project. All of them were really frustrated due to the pressure of work and the demands of their boss but everyone was loyal to him and did not think of quitting the job.

One day, one scientist came to his boss and told him – Sir, I have promised to my children that I will take them to the exhibition going on in our township. So I want to leave the office at 5 30 pm.

His boss replied “OK, You’re permitted to leave the office early today ”

The Scientist started working. He continued his work after lunch. As usual he got involved to such an extent that he looked at his watch when he felt he was close to completion. The time was 8.30 PM. Suddenly he remembered of the promise he had given to his children. He looked for his boss, He was not there. Having told him in the morning itself, he closed everything and left for home.

Deep within himself, he was feeling guilty for having disappointed his children. He reached home. Children were not there.His wife alone was sitting in the hall and reading magazines.

The situation was explosive, any talk would boomerang on him. His wife asked him “Would you like to have coffee or shall I straight away serve dinner if you are hungry. The man replied “If you would like to have coffee, i too will have but what about Children ??”

Wife replied “You don’t know ??

Your manager came here at 5.15 PM and has taken the children to the exhibition ”

What had really happened was …. The boss who granted him permission was observing him working seriously at 5.00 PM.
He thought to himself, this person will not leave the work, but if he has promised his children they should enjoy the visit to exhibition.

So he took the lead in taking them to exhibition The boss does not have to do it everytime. But once it is done, loyalty is established.

That is why all the scientists at Thumba continued to work under their boss eventhough the stress was tremendous.

good?

PROF : Is Satan good?

PROF : Evil is everywhere, isn’t it? And God did make everything. Correct?

PROF : Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these
terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?
STUDENT : Yes, sir.

PROF: So, who created them?

PROF: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe
the world around you. Tell me, son…Have you ever seen God?
STUDENT : No, sir.

PROF: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?
STUDENT : No, sir.

PROF: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God?
Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?
STUDENT : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.

PROF: Yet you still believe in Him?
STUDENT : Yes.

PROF: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol,
science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?
STUDENT : Nothing. I only have my faith.

PROF: Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.
STUDENT : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

PROF: Yes.
STUDENT : And is there such a thing as cold?

PROF: Yes.
STUDENT : No sir. There isn’t.

(The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)

STUDENT : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat,
mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have
anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no
heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing
as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat.
We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of
heat, sir, just the absence of it.

(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)
STUDENT : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as
darkness?

PROF : Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?
STUDENT : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of
something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light,
flashing light….But if you have no light constantly, you have
nothing and it’s called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness
isn’t. If it were you would be able ! to make darkness darker, wouldn’t
you?

PROF: So what is the point you are making, young man?
STUDENT : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

PROF: Flawed? Can you explain how?
STUDENT : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue
there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You
are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can
measure. Sir, science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity
and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully
understood either one.To view death as the opposite of life is to be
ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing.
Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it.

Now tell me, Professor.Do you teach your students that they evolved
from a monkey?

PROF: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes,
of course, I do.
Student: Have you ever observed evolution! with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize
where the argument is going.)

STUDENT : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at
work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor,
are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a
preacher? (The class is in uproar.)

STUDENT : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the
Professor’s brain?
(The class breaks out into laughter.)

STUDENT : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s
brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so.
So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable,
demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain,sir.

With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?
(The room is silent. The professor stares at the student, his face

An F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, if it were assembled 99.9% correctly, it would still start the race with 80 things wrong!
Formula 1 cars have over a kilometre of cable, linked to about 100 sensors and actuators which monitor and control many parts of the car.
An F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph AND back to 0 in FOUR seconds!!!!!!!
F1 car engines last only for about 2 hours of racing mostly before blowing up on the other hand we expect our engines to last us for a decent 20yrs on an average and they quite faithfully DO….thats the extent to which the engines r pushed to perform.
When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences retardation or deceleration comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph !!!
An average F1 driver looses about 4kgs of weight after just one race due to the prolonged exposure to high G forces and temperatures for little over an hour (Yeah thats right!!!)
At 550kg a F1 car is less than half the weight of a Mini.
In an F1 car the engine typically revs upto 18000 rpm,(the piston travelling up and down 300 times a second!!) wheres cars like the palio, maruti 800,indica rev only upto 6000 rpm at max. Thats 3 times slower.

  • The brake discs in an F1 car have an operating temperature of approx 1000 degees Centigrade and they attain that temp while braking before almost every turn…that is why they r not made of steelbut of carbon fibre which is much more harder and resistant to wearand tear and most of all has a higher melting point.
  • If a water hose were to blow off, the complete cooling system would empty in just over a second.
  • Gear cogs or ratios are used only for one race, and are replaced regularly to prevent failure, as they are subjected to very high degrees of stress.
  • The fit in the cockpit is so tight that the steering wheel must be removed for the driver to get in or out of the car. A small latch behind the wheel releases it from the column. Levers or paddles for changing gear are located on the back of the wheel. So no gearstick!The clutch levers are also on the steering wheel, located below the gear paddles.
  • To give you an idea of just how important aerodynamic design and added downforce can be, small planes can take off at slower speeds than F1 cars travel on the track.
  • Without aerodynamic downforce, high-performance racing cars have sufficient power to produce wheel spin and loss of control at 160 kph. They usually race at over 300 kph.
  • The amount of aerodynamic downforce produced by the front and rear wings and the car underbody is amazing. Once the car is travelling over 160 kph, an F1 car can generate enough downforceto equal it’s own weight. That means it could actually hold itself to theCEILING of a tunnel and drive UPSIDE down!
  • In a street course race like the monaco grand prix, the downforce provides enough suction to lift manhole covers. Before the race all of the manhole covers on the streets have to be welded down to prevent this from happening!
  • The refuelers used in F1 can supply 12 litres of fuel per second. This means it would take just 4 seconds to fill the tank of an average 50 litre family car.They use the same refueling rigs used on US military helicopters today.
  • TOP F1 pit crews can refuel and change tyres in around 3 seconds. & 8 sec to read above point.
  • Race car tyres don’t have air in them like normal car tyres. Most racing tyres have nitrogen in the tyres because nitrogen has a more consistent pressure compared to normal air.
    Air typically contains varying amounts of water vapour in it, which affects its expansion and contraction as a function of temperature, making the tyre pressure unpredictable.
  • During the race the tyres lose weight! Each tyre loses about 0.5kg in weight due to wear.
  • Normal tyres last 60 000 – 100 000 km. Racing tyres are designed to last 90 – 120 km (That’s Khandala and back).
  • A dry-weather F1 tyre reaches peak operating performance (best grip) when tread temperature is between 900C and 1200C.
    (Water boils boils at 100C remember) At top speed, F1 tyres rotate 50 times a second.

From the very Beginning, the girl’s family objected strongly on her dating this guy. Saying that it has got to do with family background,& that the girl will have to suffer for the rest of her life if she were to be with him.
Due to family’s pressure, the couple quarrel very often. Though the girl love the guy deeply, but she always ask him: “How deep is your love for me?”

As the guy is not good with his words, this often cause the girl to be very upset. With that & the family’s pressure, the girl often vent her anger on him. As for him, he only endure it in silence.

After a couple of years, the guy finally graduated & decided to further his studies in overseas. Before leaving, he proposed to the girl: “I’m not very good with words. But all I know is that I love you. If you allow me, I will take care of you for the rest of my life. As for your family, I’ll try my best to talk them round. Will you marry me?”

The girl agreed, & with the guy’s determination, the family finally gave in & agreed to let them get married. So before he leave, they got engaged.

The girl went out to the working society, whereas the guy was overseas, continuing his studies. They sent their love through emails & phone calls. Though it’s hard, but both never thought of giving up.

One day, while the girl was on her way to work, she was knocked down by a car that lost control. When she woke up, she saw her parents beside her bed. She realised that she was badly injured. Seeing her mum crying, she wanted to comfort her. But she realized that all that could come out of her mouth was just a sigh. She has lost her voice……

The doctors says that the impact on her brain has caused her to lose her voice. Listening to her parents’ comfort, but with nothing coming out from her, she broke down.

During the stay in hospital, besides silence cry,…..it’s still just silence cry that companied her. Upon reaching home, everything seems to be the same. Except for the ringing tone of the phone. Which pierced into her heart everytime it rang. She does not wish to let the guy know. & not wanting to be a burden to him, she wrote a letter to him saying that she does not wish to wait any longer.

With that, she sent the ring back to him. In return, the guy sent millions & millions of reply, and countless of phonecalls,.. all the girl could do, besides crying, is still crying….

The parents decided to move away, hoping that she could eventually forget everything & be happy.

With a new environment, the girl learn sign language & started a new life. Telling herself everyday that she must forget the guy. One day, her friend came & told her that he’s back. She asked her friend not to let him know what happened to her. Since then, there wasn’t anymore news of him.

A year has passed & her friend came with an envelope, containing an invitation card for the guy’s wedding. The girl was shattered. When she open the letter, she saw her name in it instead.

When she was about to ask her friend what’s going on, she saw the guy standing in front of her. He used sign language telling her “I’ve spent a year’s time to learn sign language. Just to let you know that I’ve not forgotten our promise. Let me have the chance to be your voice. I Love You. With that, he slipped the ring back into her finger. The girl finally smiled. U see we dnt know what our future holds… sometimes its hard but later u realize watever happens happens 4 d best.. never b faint hearted or loose hope coz surely after every hardship there is ease infact a better life to come…… Trust on God and leave ur life in his hands….. May God Fulfill all r good n lawfull wishes….

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, Dictionary. Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said, “With all your money you give me a Dictionary?” and stormed out of the house, leaving the Dictionary.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son.

He needed to come home immediately and take care things. When he arrived at his father’s house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.

He began to search his father’s important papers and saw the still new Dictionary, just as he had left it years ago.

With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer’s name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words…PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God’s blessings because they are not packaged as we expected ………..?!!!!!!!!

I want to tell a story of a rabbit and a wolf.Once upon a time a rabbit and a wolf were best friends.They were leading a happy life.After some days severe drought occurred.The wolf was not able to tolerate the hunger.So,after the 3 days of drought,it said to rabbit,”hey,i am going to eat you.I am not able to tolerate”.The rabbit was shocked and said,”I am your best friend.So pls dont eat me”.But wolf didnt hear anything and went near rabbit to eat it.Rabbit started running and wolf was chasing it.Then after a long run,there was no way and there was only a small hole.Rabbit was afraid to do what.Wolf was nearing it.Then suddenly rabbit struggled and entered that hole.Wolf tried much. But i was not able to enter since it was so small.

Then it said,”rabbit i wont eat you.You come out”.Then rabbit came out and wolf said,”How u was able to enter that hole?It is so small”.The rabbit replied,”Stupid wolf,YOU ARE RUNNING FOR FOOD AND I AM RUNNING FOR MY LIFE”.

So it is in our hands that whether we have to run after food or run after life.When we run for life we can acheive all the things.We should eat to live and not sacrifice our whole life for food.The life becomes meaningful only when we want to acheive something.So,always be ambitious and acheive something and we should try to make India-a developed country.

“A GREAT PLEASURE IN LIFE IS DOING WHAT PEOPLE SAY YOU CANNOT DO”.

As early as the fourth century B.C., the Romans engaged in an annual young man’s rite to passage to the God Lupercus. The names of the teenage women were placed in a box and drawn at random by adolescent men; thus, a man was assigned a woman companion for the duration of the year, after which another lottery was staged. After eight hundred years of this cruel practice, the early church fathers sought to end this practice… They found an answer in Valentine, a bishop who had been martyred some two hundred years earlier.

According to church tradition St. Valentine was a priest near Rome in about the year 270 A.D. At that time the Roman Emperor Claudius-II who had issued an edict forbidding marriage. This was around when the heyday of Roman empire had almost come to an end. Lack of quality administrators led to frequent civil strife. Learning declined, taxation increased, and trade slumped to a low, precarious level. And the Gauls, Slavs, Huns, Turks and Mongolians from Northern Europe and Asian increased their pressure on the empire’s boundaries. The empire was grown too large to be shielded from external aggression and internal chaos with existing forces. Thus more of capable men were required to be recruited as soldiers and officers. When Claudius became the emperor, he felt that married men were more emotionally attached to their families, and thus, will not make good soldiers. So to assure quality soldiers, he banned marriage.

Valentine, a bishop , seeing the trauma of young lovers, met them in a secret place, and joined them in the sacrament of matrimony. Claudius learned of this “friend of lovers,” and had him arrested. The emperor, impressed with the young priest’s dignity and conviction, attempted to convert him to the roman gods, to save him from certain execution. Valentine refused to recognize Roman Gods and even attempted to convert the emperor , knowing the consequences fully.
On February 24, 270 , Valentine was executed.
“From your Valentine” While Valentine was in prison awaiting his fate, he came in contact with his jailor, Asterius. The jailor had a blind daughter. Asterius requested him to heal his daughter. Through his faith he miraculously restored the sight of Asterius’ daughter. Just before his execution, he asked for a pen and paper from his jailor, and signed a farewell message to her “From Your Valentine,” a phrase that lived ever after.

Valentine thus become a Patron Saint, and spiritual overseer of an annual festival. The festival involved young Romans offering women they admired, and wished to court, handwritten greetings of affection on February 14. The greeting cards acquired St.Valentine’s name.

The Valentine’s Day card spread with Christianity, and is now celebrated all over the world. One of the earliest card was sent in 1415 by Charles, duke of Orleans, to his wife while he was a prisoner in the Tower of London . The card is now preserved in the British Museum .

Ishwar spoke: When a person fails to notice the light emanating from the sun, the moon or the fire; what he sees is only black, then know it that his life expectancy is about six months or less. When terrific uproar or noises are not heard immediately, then know that the person’s death can occur within six months. When the body suddenly becomes pale and the face turns red; death can occur within six months.The mouth, ear, eye or the tongue suddenly freeze-up; death can occur within six months.

When a man’s left hand continuously keeps shaking for seven days; death can occur within one month. When the organs of the body cease functioning and start pulling, when the upper part of the mouth feels dry all the time; death can occur within one month. When the tongue thickens, and the teeth all become and remain coated with greasy substance; death can occur within six months.

When a person cannot see his or her reflection in water, oil, ghee (clarified melted butter), or in the mirror; otherwise sees the reflection in the mirror in a distorted form or sees only flesh; death can occur within six months.He who sees his own shadow without the head, or he cannot see at all his own shadow; death can occur within one month. When the eyes see the sun without rays, sees only red blob; death can occur within fifteen days. When the rainbow is being seen at night, when falling stars are being seen at midday; when vultures and crows seem to surround the person; death can occur within six months.”

Yajnavalkya said: I shall now tell thee the premonitory indication, as laid down by the wise of those who have but one year to live. One, who having previously seen the fixed star called Arundhati, fails to see it, or that other star called Dhruva (the pole
star), or one that sees the full moon or the flame of a burning lamp to be broken towards the south, has but one year to live. Those men, O king, who can no longer see images of themselves reflected in the eyes of others, have but one year to live. One who, being endued with lustre loses it, or being endued with wisdom loses it, indeed, one whose inward and outward
nature is thus changed, has but six months more to live.

He, who disregards the deities, or quarrels with the Brahmanas, or one, who, being naturally of a dark complexion becomes pale of hue, has but six months more to live. One, who sees the lunar disc to have many holes like a spider’s web, who sees the solar disc to have similar holes, has but one week more to live. One, who, when smelling fragrant scents in place of worship, perceives them to be as offensive as the scent of corpses, has but one week more to live. The depression of the nose or of the ear, the discolouring of the teeth or of the eye, the loss of all consciousness, and the loss also of all animal heat, are symptoms indicating death that very day. If, without any perceptible cause a stream of tears suddenly flows from one’s left eye, and if vapours be seen to issue from one’s head, that is a sure indication that the man will die before that day expires.

Knowing all these premonitory symptoms, the man of cleansed soul should day and night unite his soul with the Supreme Soul (in Samadhi or deep meditation). Thus should he go on till the day comes for his dissolution. If, however, instead of wishing to die he desires to live in this world, he casts off all enjoyments- all scents and tastes- O king, and lives on in abstinence. He thus conquers death by fixing his soul on the Supreme Soul. Indeed, the man who is blessed with knowledge of the Soul, O monarch, practices the course of life recommended by the Sankhyas and conquers death by uniting his soul with the Supreme Soul. At last, he attains to what is entirely indestructible, which is without birth, which is auspicious, and immutable, and eternal, and stable, and which is incapable of being attained to by men of uncleansed souls.

To change yourself, look at what you fear and what you hate. Start There. What is over is over.

You did what you knew how to do….
It wasn’t right or wrong or good or bad. It just was. But all you have got is today. You will not get it back. If someone
you love fails to return your love the way you would like it returned, remember….that is the other person’s choice. It does not at all detract from your love. Whatever is going on inside of you is up to you. You own it all. You created it. It is all yours. Grow what you want to grow in your own garden. Get your nose out of everybody else’s garden. Get your own house in order, and stop focusing on everybody else’s. All that you need in order to have total happiness, fulfillment, and love in your life, you already have right now. Whoever you are. Wherever you are. Everything you ever worried about…. turned out exactly as it was meant to; despite your worries to the contrary. You must not attempt to will anything.

You need only be willing. Each of us has a well of infinite depth within us, which contains more potential for love & bliss than we can ever imagine. Remember….. No one can depress you.

No one can make you anxious. No one can hurt your feelings. No one can make you feel inferior No one can make you feel anything other than what you allow inside. With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself……
or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing.

You get to choose. When you argue for your limitations, all you get are your limitations.

Especially in life
Don’t you just hate it when people make excuses for their failures? So do I. But do you know what I hate even more? Finding myself making excuses for my failures! I have a policy that I try to live by: No excuses.

Here are some thoughts on a “No Excuses” policy.

People will respect you. When you say that there are no excuses, that you blew it, and that you take full responsibility to make the situation right, people will be astounded (since very few people make no excuses) and they will come to a greater respect of you.

You will find yourself taking greater responsibility. When you know that your policy is to have no excuses, there will be less room for error because you will be doing everything that you can to make sure the job gets done!

You will become the “go to” person. When someone wants something done, they will turn to you because they know that they can count on you to perform. And they know they won’t get any excuses! This will improve your level of success, and that is exactly what you are aiming for, right?

Practice up: “You’re right. There is no excuse for that. I will fix it immediately.”

Story told by Azim Premji Wipro Chairman during his IIT Madras Convocation Speech An eight-year-old child heard her parents
talking about her little brother. All she knew was that he was very sick and they had no money left.

They were moving to a smaller house because they could not afford to stay in the present house after paying the doctor’s bills. Only a very costly surgery could save him now and there was no one to loan them the money.

When she heard daddy say to her tearful mother with whispered desperation,’ Only a miracle can save him now’, the child went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Clutching the precious jar tightly, she slipped out the back door and made her way six blocks to the local drug Store.

She took a quarter from her jar and placed it on the glass counter. “And what do you want?” asked the pharmacist. “It’s for my little rother,”the girl answered back. “He’s really; really sick and I want to buy a miracle.”

“I beg your pardon?” said the pharmacist.

“His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my daddy says only a miracle can save him. So how much does a miracle cost?”

“We don’t sell miracles here, child. I’m sorry,” the pharmacist said, smiling sadly at the little girl.

“Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I can try and get some more. Just tell me how much it costs.”

In the shop was a well-dressed customer. He stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does your brother need?”

“I don’t know,” she replied with her eyes welling up. “He’s really sick and mommy says he needs an operation. But my daddy can’t pay for it, so I have brought my savings”.

“How much do you have?” asked the man.

“One dollar and eleven cents, but I can try and get some more”, sheanswered barely audibly.”Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents is the exact price of a miracle for little brothers.”He took her money in one hand and held her hand with the other.

He said,”Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let’s see if I have the kind of miracle you need.”

That well-dressed man was Dr Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed without charge and it wasn’t long before Andrew was home again and doing well.

“That surgery,” her mom whispered, “was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost.”

The little girl smiled. She knew exactly how much the miracle cost one dollar and eleven cents … plus the faith of a little child.

“Perseveance can make miracle happen”

A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on the end of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots was perfectly made and never leaked. The other pot had a crack in it and by the time the water bearer reached his master’s house it had leaked much of it’s water and was only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his master’s house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. “I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you.” “Why?” asked the bearer. “What are you ashamed of?” “I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master’s house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don’t get full value from your efforts,” the pot said.

The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, “As we return to the master’s house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path.”

Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again the pot apologized to the bearer for its failure.

The bearer said to the pot, “Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of your path, but not on the other pot’s side? That’s because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you’ve watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master’s table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house.” ” Each of us has our own unique flaws. We’re all cracked pots. But if we will allow it, God will use our flaws to grace his table. In God’s great economy, nothing goes to waste. Don’t be afraid of your flaws. Acknowledge them, and you too can be the cause of beauty.

Know that in our weakness we find our strength.”

Moral: Don’t Compare…Compete!

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:
“When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?”

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. “I believe, that when a child like Shay, physically and mentally handicapped comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes, in the way other people treat that child” Then he told the following story:

Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, “Do you think they’ll let me play?” Shay’s father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but the father also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

Shay’s father approached one of the boys on the field and asked if Shay could play, not expecting much. The boy looked around for guidance and said, “We’re losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we’ll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.”

Shay struggled over to the team’s bench, put on a team shirt with a broad smile and his Father had a small tear in his eye and warmth in his heart. The boys saw the father’s joy at his son being accepted. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay’s team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.

In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay’s team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning
run was on base and Shay wasscheduled to be next at bat. At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible ’cause Shay didn’t even
know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing the other team putting winning aside for this moment in Shay’s life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least be able to make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over, but the pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game. Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the head of the first baseman, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, “Shay, run to first! Run to first!”

Never in his life had Shay ever ran that far but made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled. Everyone yelled, “Run to second, run to second!” Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and
struggling to make it to second base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball, the smallest guy on their team, who had a chance to be the hero for his team for the first time. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher’s intentions and he too intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman’s head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward
home. As Shay neared third base, the opposing shortstop ran to help him and turned him in the direction of third base, and shouted, “Run to third! Shay, run to third!”

All were screaming, “Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay” As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams and those watching were on their feet were screaming, “Shay, run home!” Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the “grand slam” and won the game for his team.

That day, said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world.

Shay didn’t make it to another summer and died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making his Father so happy and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

The Man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab.She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man’s door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached..It read: “Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along.   3. Third Important Lesson – Always remember those who serve.In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.”How much is an ice cream sundae?” he asked. “Fifty cents,” replied the waitress.   4. Fourth Important Lesson. – The obstacle in Our Path.In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand!Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

Fifth Important Lesson – Giving When it Counts…Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, “Yes I’ll do it, if it will save her.” As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded.He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, “Will I start to die right away?”Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.”Work like you don’t need the money, Love like you’ve never been hurt, and dance like you do when nobody’s watching.”

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a Rupee 500 note.

In the room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this Rupee 500 note?”

Hands started going up. He said, “I am going to give this note to one of you but first let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple the note up. He then asked, “Who still wants it?”

Still the hands were up in the air.”Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?”.

And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty.

“Now who still wants it?” Still the hands went into the air.

“My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson.

No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth Rupee 500/-.

Many times in your lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.

We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. You are special don’t ever forget it!

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, “How much do I owe you?”

“You don’t owe me anything,” she replied “Mother has taught us never to accept payment for a kindness.” He said… “Then I thank you from my heart.”

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt; stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Years later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.

Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor’s gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room.

She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally, she looked, and something caught; her attention on the side as She read these words…..

“Paid in full with one glass of milk.” (Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly.

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: “Thank You,
GOD, that Your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands.”

Let me say at the onset, there are much better and much detailed articles on understanding the Duckworth Lewis method. This is not an attempt to simplify the understanding of the D/L method. I am sure if I tried, I would fail badly. It’s just another article on the web explaining the D/L method. In the process if someone finds it comprehensible, I would consider myself a lucky writer.

This article will not have a flow. Complicated things cannot be explained in a flow. Hence I have broken the whole analysis very crudely into many parts. Lets get started.

In cricket, as you all know, the team that scores most runs wins. Of course ODI’s silly ;>).

Now to score most runs, teams have at their disposal the number of overs to play and number of wickets in hand. The number of overs available and the number of wickets in hand are collectively called “resources” available to a team.

Now Mr. D and Mr. L, made a table, based on the scores of the past ODI’s, which gives the percentage of resources that are available to a team at the end of every bowl and every wicket. Something like a log table.

An excerpt from the table is shown below.

Please keep in mind that the official scorekeepers and the umpires/referees have the details of these resources for each bowl. That is there are a total of 300 balls * 10 wickets = 3000 cells in the complete table.

We shall consider 3 examples that cover the 3 possible scenarios.(1st case.)

India has scored 250 runs in 50 overs. Australia has lost 7 wickets in 40 overs scoring 180(yeah, in my dreams). Now rain God shows mercy on Australians and the match is not played further. Lets see who is the winner.

Did India have any interruptions while batting? No. So the resource at its disposal was 100%.

When Australia started batting, it had complete resources. 100%

After 40 overs and 7 wickets down, the resources left with Australia = 20.6 %

Now since, no play is possible further, can Australia use this remaining resource? No.

So Australia used 100 – 20.6 = 79.4% of its resources.

Now lets see how much India would have scored with 79.4% resources available.

Plain and simple mathematics, isn’t it?

250 * (79.4/100) = 198.50 which is rounded off to 198 and Australia needed 199 to win.

But how much did they score? 180. So India wins the match.

Now let me state the rule corresponding to this example.

Note the resource % team had at the start of the innings. (Here both India and Australia had 100%) Using the table calculate the resource % lost due to each interruption. (Australia lost 20.6 %) Calculate the resource percentage available (Australia had 79.4% available)

Reset the target set by the first team using the %resource available to the second team.

With 100% resource India scored 250.

With 79.4%, it would have scored 250 *79.4 /100 = 198.50

The previous case is applicable when the team batting first is not interrupted at all.

India is playing first and the match is already made a 40 overs match due to rains. Lets say India scores 200 runs. (With what % of resources? 90.3%. right?)

Australia scores 150 runs in 30 overs and has lost 5 wickets. The play is interrupted again. Now only 5 overs are remaining. Now pay attention. After 30 overs, Australia is 150/5.

How much are the resources left? 5 wickets in hand and 10 overs = 27.5%

Now 5 overs are lost due to rain. And only 5 overs are remaining. So with 5 wickets in hands and 5 overs remaining, how much Australia has? 16.4% Clearly Australia has lost 27.5% - 16.4% = 11.1% due to rain.

So the Resource available to Australia is 90.3% - 11.1% = 79.2%

Now reset the target set by India considering they played with 79.2% resources.

200 * 79.2/90.3 = 175.42. So India’s score is 175 and Australia needs 26 more runs in 5 overs to win the match Lets formulate the rule now.

If team 2 has less resources than team 1(Australia had 79.2% available to India’s 90.3%), Calculate the ratio of the resources available to the two teams. Reset the Team 1’s score using this ratio.

Simple right?

This rule is applicable when the rain has affected the number of overs in a match before the match started. And then again when the team batting second is batting. (Case 3)

India is batting first and the score is 200/7 at the end of 40 overs when Rain halts the play. Now there is sufficient rain to make the match a 40 overs affair. Clearly Australia cant be asked to score 201 in 40 overs since that would be disadvantage to India which went into play thinking it has to play 50 overs. Had it known it has to play 40 overs, it would have started hitting at the end of 33 over or so. Right?

So we need to reset the target for Australia.

India has lost 7 wickets and 10 overs. So it has lost 20.6% of the resources due to the rains.

They started with 100% resources. But they have used only 100% - 20.6% = 79.4%.

Now Australia will start with 90.3% since it has lost 10 overs. The difference between the resources available to Australia and India is 90.3% - 79.4% = 10.9%

So Australia had to be set a target of 200 + 10.9% of 200. Right? Not quite. From the statistics gathered over a period of time. The average score in a 50 full overs match has been found out to be 225.

So the reset score is 200 + 10.9% of 225 = 200 + 24.53 = 224.53 or 224

So Australia would need 225 runs to win. (This 225 has nothing to do with the 225 used to calculate the additional runs required.)

Let us set the rule for this also.

If team 2 has more resources than team 1, find out the excess resource. (Australia had 90.3% to India’s 79.4%)

Add the excess as a % of 225(average runs scored in 50 overs) and add those to the total of Team 1. (10.9% of 225 is 24.53 and 24.53 + India’s score of 200 = 224.53)

This rule is applicable when the team batting first starts with 100% resources but the game is shortened due to rains. And team 1 has less over than expected.

Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs…. who arranged a running competition.
The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.

A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants….

The race began….

Honestly:

No one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.

You heard statements such as:

“Oh, WAY too difficult!!”

“They will NEVER make it to the top.”

“Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!”

The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one….

Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher….

The crowd continued to yell, “It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!”

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up….

But ONE continued higher and higher and higher….

This one wouldn’t give up!

At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!

THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally want ed to know how this one frog managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal?

It turned out….

That the winner was DEAF!!!!

The wisdom of this story is:

Never listen to other people’s tendencies to be

negative or pessimistic…. because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you — the ones you have in your heart!

Always think of the power words have.

Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions!

Therefore:

ALWAYS be….

POSITIVE!

And above all:

Be DEAF when people tell YOU that you cannot fulfill your dreams!

Scottish inventor John Logie Baird gave the first public demonstration of television in 1926 in Soho, London. Ten years later there were only 100 TV sets in the world.

Traffic Lights :

World Trade Center :
The World Trade Center towers were designed to collapse in a pancake-like fashion, instead of simply falling over on their sides. This design feature saved hundreds, perhaps thousands of lives on Sept. 11, 2001, when they were destroyed by terrorists.

Once a general manager wanted to test his people who had come from all over India, about their values of life.

He announced that in their seminar folder, there is PVC pouch and in it there is a seed. When they return, they must put it in a good soil in a pot and look after it very well.

He would hold a competition in the next year’s seminar and that the best plants would be awarded suitably.

Everyone did what was told to him. A year passed quickly. And next year in a big hall, there were hundreds of pots and a great variety of plants-a great scene. Except one pot in which the soil was there and no plant! The owner was standing quietly and seemingly ashamed of himself!

The general manager called him on the stage. He asked him what happened and he told him the truth. He planted the seed which he was given – and did that was to be done- but nothing happened!

The general manager declared him the winner! Everyone was shocked. It was announced, “Gentlemen! The seeds I gave you were boiled seeds. You planted them and nothing happened! You acted smartly and used some other seeds. This man was honest to his work and, therefore he did not cheat me or himself!”

‘A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived. Ao he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her some chips. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.

Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat.

There all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, ‘What did you do today that made you so happy?’

He replied, ‘I had lunch with God.’ But before his mother could respond, he added, ‘You know what? She’s got the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen!’

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, ‘Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?’ She replied! ‘I ate potato chips in the park with God.’ However, before her son responded, she added, ‘You know, he’s much younger than I expected.’

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of.

Which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! Embrace all equally!’

Realize the true value of your parents before its too late.

A man feared his wife wasn’t hearing as well as she used to and he thought, she might need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family Doctor to discuss the problem. The Doctor told him there is a simple informal test, the husband could perform to give the Doctor, a better idea about her hearing loss.

‘Here’s what you do,’ said the Doctor,’ stand about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone, see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response’

That evening, the wife is in the kitchen, cooking dinner, and he was in the den. He says to himself, ‘I’m about 40 feet away, let’s see what happens’

Then in a normal tone he asks, ‘Honey, what’s for dinner?’ No response.

So, the husband moves to closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, ‘Honey, what’s for dinner?’ Still no response.

Next, he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, ‘Honey, what’s for dinner?’ Again he gets no response.

So, he walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. ‘Honey, what’s for dinner?’ Again there is no response.

So, he walks right up behind her. ‘Honey, what’s for dinner?’ ‘James, for the FIFTH time I’ve said, CHICKEN!’

Moral :
Sometimes, the problem may not be with the other one as we always think, could be, very much within us..! Lets look within ourselves before we find fault with others…

Once there was a girl named Tina. She went on a school picnic to a farm with her friends. She saw a shiny golden egg there! The innocent girl was attracted to the egg and took it home. A few days later, a lovely chick out of the egg.
Months passed. One day Tina was busy working out her Math problems. A mysterious voice heard from the chick. ”Tina, these sums are as easy as eating a pie. Can I help you” The chick actually helped out Tina with her Math homework. The chick told Tina and not to tell any one about her extraordinary skills. The chick said it would lose. Its skills once a third person comes to know and could not believe what she heard or saw. Tina promised the chick that she would never let out the secret.

Days and months passed Tina and the chick became the best of friends. Tina would confide everything in the chick and she used to be of great help in Tina’s day to day activities. One day there was an exhibition in school and everyone had to exhibit something wonderful that they crafted or have which they could share with the school. The school had announced a special prize for the best exhibit. Tina was very excited to show the chick. She became greedy and wanted to earn the special prize, too. She forgot the promise she had made to the chick.

She put the chick in a small basket and took her to school. Tina got the chick out and placed it in the exhibition hall and gave an introduction about the talents the chick possessed. The chick immediately lost all her power, started quacking like a normal chick, ran amidst the crowd and was lost. Tina became the laughing stock of her school. She lost her best friend who used to help her in her good and bad times.

The moral of the story is “Never break a Promise”.

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm.
He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods.
He Practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target.
Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw grandma’s pet duck.
Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved.

In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day grandma said, ‘Sally, let’s wash the Dishes. ‘But Sally said, ‘gGrandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.’ Then she whispered to him, ‘Remember the duck?’ So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and grandma said, ‘I’m sorry but I need Sally to help make supper.’

Sally just smiled and said,’ Well that’s all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help.’ She whispered again, ‘Remember the duck?’ So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally’s, he finally couldn’t stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.

Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, ‘Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long You would let Sally make a slave of you.’

He’s just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave Of you.

The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives you, but He forgets. It is by God’s grace and mercy that we are saved.

THE DONKEY

One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer’s neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL : Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy :

  1. Free your heart from hatred – Forgive.
  2. Free your mind from worries – Most never happen.
  3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
  4. Give more.
  5. Expect less

My wife called, ‘How long will you be poring over that newspaper?
Will you come here and make your darling daughter eat her food?’
I tossed the paper away and rushed to the scene.
My only daughter Sindu looked frightened.
Tears were welling up in her eyes. In front of her was a bowl filled to its brim with Curd Rice.
Sindu is a nice child, quite intelligent for her age. She has just turned eight.
She particularly detested Curd Rice. My mother and my wife are orthodox,
and believe firmly in the ‘cooling effects’ of Curd Rice! I cleared my throat,
and picked up the bowl. ‘Sindu, darling, why don’t you take a few mouthfuls of this Curd Rice? Just for Dad’s sake, dear. And, if you don’t,
your Mom will shout at me’ I could sense my wife’s scowl behind my back.
Sindu softened a bit, and wiped her tears with the back of her hands.
‘OK, Dad. I will eat – not just a few mouthfuls, but the whole lot of this.
But, you should…’ Sindu hesitated.
‘Dad, if I eat this entire curd Rice, will you give me whatever I ask for?’
‘Oh sure, darling’.

‘Promise ?’

‘Promise’

I covered the pink soft hand extended by my daughter with mine,
and clinched the deal. ‘Ask Mom also to give a similar promise’,
my daughter insisted. My wife slapped her hand on Sindu’s,
muttering ‘Promise’, without any emotion.

Now I became a bit anxious. ‘Sindu dear,
you shouldn’t insist on getting a computer or any such expensive items.
Dad does not have that

kind of money right now. OK?’

‘No, Dad. I do not want anything expensive’.

Slowly and painfully, she finished eating the whole quantity.
I was silently angry with my wife and my mother for forcing my child eat something that she detested.
After the ordeal was through, Sindu came to me with her eyes wide with expectation.
All our attention was on her.

‘Dad, I want to have my head shaved off, this Sunday!’ was her demand.

‘Atrocious!’ shouted my wife, ‘A girl child having her head shaved off?
Impossible!’

‘Never in our family!’ my mother rasped.
‘She has been watching too much of television.
Our culture is getting totally spoiled with these TV programs!’

‘Sindu darling, why don’t you ask for something else?
We will be sad seeing you with a clean-shaven head.’

‘No, Dad. I do not want anything else’, Sindu said with finality.

‘Please, Sindu, why don’t you try to understand our feelings?’ I tried to plead with her.

‘Dad, you saw how difficult it was for me to eat that Curd Rice’. Sindu was in tears.

‘And you promised to grant me whatever I ask for.
Now, you are going back on your words.
Was it not you who told me the story of King Harishchandra,
and its moral that we should honor our promises no matter what?’

It was time for me to call the shots. ‘Our promise must be kept.’

‘Are you out your mind?’ chorused my mother and wife.

‘No. If we go back on our promises, she will never learn to honor her own.

Sindu, your wish will be fulfilled.’

With her head clean-shaven, Sindu had a round-face, and her eyes looked big and beautiful.

On Monday morning, I dropped her at her school.
It was a sight to watch my hairless Sindu walking towards her classroom.
She turned around and waved.

I waved back with a smile.

Just then, a boy alighted from a car, and shouted, ‘Sinduja, please wait for me!’

What struck me was the hairless head of that boy.
‘May be, that is the in-stuff’, I thought.

‘Sir, your daughter Sinduja is great indeed!’
Without introducing herself, a lady got out of the car,
and continued,’ That boy who is walking along with your daughter is my son Harish.

He is suffering from… … leukemia.’ She paused to muffle her sobs.

‘Harish could not attend the school for the whole of the last month.

He lost all his hair due to the side effects of the chemotherapy.
He refused to come back to school fearing the unintentional but cruel

teasing of the schoolmates.’

Sinduja visited him last week, and promised him that she will take care of the teasing issue.

But, I never imagined she would sacrifice her lovely hair for the sake of my son!

Sir, you and your wife are blessed to have such a noble soul as your daughter.’

I stood transfixed. And then, I wept.
‘My little Angel, you are teaching me how self-less real love is!’

WHEN A LIZARD CAN, WHY CAN’T WE?
This is a true story that happened in Japan. In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan breaks open the wall. Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this,
feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was! first built.

What happened?

The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years! In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind-boggling. Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 10 years! without moving a single step–since its foot was nailed!

So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, and

what and how it has been eating. Later, not knowing from where it came, appears another lizard, with food in its mouth. Ah! He was stunned and touched deeply. For the lizard that was stuck by nail, another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years…

Imagine? it has been doing that untiringly for 10 long years, without giving up hope on its partner.

Think, will u do that to your partner?

Think that will you do it to your Mom,
Who brought you after a big struggle of Nine long months ?

Or at least to your Dad, Friends, Co-workers, brothers and Sisters?

Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with a

A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a Loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes. When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open. He was late for office so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen totally forgot the matter.

The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its colour and drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed the mother hurried him to the hospital, where he died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how to face her husband.

When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child ,he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.

ANSWER : The husband just said ‘ I am with you Darling’

The husband’s totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behaviour. The child is dead. He can never be brought back to life. There is no point in finding fault with the mother. Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would not have happened.

No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment was consolation and sympathy from the husband.

That is what he gave her.

If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer problems in the world.

MORAL OF THE STORY

Sometimes we spend time in asking who is responsible or whom to blame,in the relationship,but by this way we miss out some warmth that is needed… some things are not merely to blame..Remember always that life is not that easy to understand as it seems…Never try to apply your logic to understand every situation…Let life enjoy its own complexity..You are just a small part of dis whole complicated universe…always try to be happy.

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to him and the other to the LORD. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it: ‘LORD, you said, that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way,. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I dont understand why when I need you most, you would leave me.’

The LORD replied, ‘ My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you, During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.’

There was once a washerman who had a donkey and a dog. One night when the whole world was sleeping, a thief broke into the house, the washer man was fast asleep but the donkey and the dog were awake. The dog decided not to bark since the master did not take good care of him and wanted to teach him a lesson. The donkey got worried and said to the dog that if he doesn’t bark, the donkey will have to do something himself. The dog did not change his mind and the donkey started braying loudly. Hearing the donkey bray, the thief ran away, the master woke up and started beating the donkey for braying in the middle of the night for no reason.

Moral of the story ” One must not engage in duties other than his own”

Now take a new look at the same story…

The washerman ( J) was a well educated man from a premier management institute. He had the fundas of looking at the bigger picture and thinking out of the box. He was convinced that there must be some reason for the donkey to bray in the night. He walked outside a little and did some fact finding, applied a bottom up approach, figured out from the ground realities that there was a thief who broke in and the donkey only wanted to alert him about it. Looking at the donkey’s extra initiative and going beyond the call of the duty, he rewarded him with lot of hay and other perks and became his favorite pet. The dog’s life didn’t change much, except that now the donkey was more motivated in doing the dogs duties as well. In the annual appraisal the dog managed a “meets requirement” . Soon the dog realized that the donkey is taking care of his duties and he can enjoy his life sleeping and lazing around. The donkey was rated as ” star performer”. The donkey had to live up to his
already high performance standards. Soon he was over burdened with work and always under pressure and now is looking for a job rotation…

An old Farmer lived on a farm in the mountains with his young grandson.

Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Bhagavat Geeta. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, “Grandpa! I try to read the Bhagavat Geeta just like you but I don’t understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Bhagavat Geeta do?”

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, “Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water.”

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, “You’ll have to move a little faster next time,” and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead. The old man said, “I don’t want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You’re just not trying hard enough,” and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house.

The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, “See Grandpa, it’s useless!”

“So you think it is useless?” The old man said, “Look at the basket.”

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

“Son, that’s what happens when you read the Bhagavat Geeta. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of Krishna in our lives.”

Different Way – A nice story

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: “I am blind, please help .” There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, “Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?”

The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.”

What he had written was: ” Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it. “Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing? Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign
was more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed.

The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised.

That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn’t sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble.

Moral of the story: If you don’t give your hundred percent in a relationship, you’ll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent..
